Trauma Counselling – ICBC
During the Covid-19 pandemic, ICBC continues to ensure that their claimants receive the support that they need to recover from their MVAs. As such, ICBC has introduced the ICBC Telehealth service, which allows claimants to receive ICBC funded counselling via video platforms and on the phone.

If you have been in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), then you would most likely have a file opened with ICBC. You would have a ICBC claim number, and a lawyer who is representing you. You would also have heard about ICBC funded counselling.
ICBC supported counselling
ICBC has been supporting individuals who have been through an MVA, with the goal of helping their claimants recover from their injuries. They do this by providing funding for a host of services an individual might need after a MVA.
Importantly, ICBC will also fund counselling sessions to help their claimants regain their mental and emotional health.

MVA related trauma
If you are suffering from post traumatic stress as a result of your MVA, you may feel extremely nervous behind the wheel. The very idea of getting into a car may bring on an anxiety attack. You may experience sleepless nights remembering the moment the MVA occurred. You play the scene over and over again uncontrollably in your mind. The thought of driving yourself to work may lead to severe headaches and palpitations.
If you experience any of these, know that counselling from experienced trauma counsellors can help you regain a semblance of what your life used to be.
Our trauma counsellors used evidence-based therapies to help you recover. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy have been found to be very useful in alleviating symptoms from traumatic incidents.
