ICBC funded counselling
If you have been in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), then you will most likely have a file opened with ICBC, and you will have a ICBC claim number. You will also very likely have a lawyer who is representing you.
ICBC has been a supporting individuals who have been through an MVA, through the ICBC Injury Recovery Program. This program aims to help ICBC claimants heal and recover from their injuries by providing funding for a host of services an individual might need after a MVA.
In addition to physiotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, occupational therapy, and kinesiology, ICBC will also fund counselling sessions to help their claimants regain their mental and emotional health.

If you are suffering from post traumatic stress as a result of your MVA, you may feel extremely nervous behind the wheel. The very idea of getting into a car may bring on an anxiety attack. You may experience sleepless nights remembering the moment the MVA occurred, playing the scene over and over again uncontrollably in your mind. The thought of driving yourself to work may lead to severe headaches and palpitations. If you experience any of these, know that counselling from experienced trauma counsellors can help you regain a semblance of what your life used to be.
Innova Centre trauma counsellors have helped many ICBC claimants get back on their feet. Know that you are not alone, and that professional help is available.
