Your specific life story needs to be heard, in a safe, non-judgmental and trusted place. I can provide this place for you. When working with clients I strive to make the therapy experience genuine, positive, respectful, and safe. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in doing great things and overcoming things that challenge you.
My Professional Biography
I have worked with a diverse population including children, youth, adults, families, and couples in mental health for the past 9 years.
My main reason in becoming a counsellor is because I enjoy listening to people. Helping others to overcome their challenges by listening to them and understanding their experiences is my passion. Supporting people through their life while dealing with these challenges and whatever they are experiencing excites me.
I completed my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy also known as CBT in 2012, while I was still a student. I was so eager to know how I can help others. With that in mind, I started working as an intake counsellor before graduating.
In 2013, I earned a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology. During my study, I spent over 90 hours learning and mastering relationship conflicts, locus of control, total behaviour, disruptive and caring habits in a relationship and quality world. These are the main objective of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy.
Then in 2014, I completed the Advanced Level of Choice Theory (Level 3). My intention in pursuing this training was to develop a framework and gain tools while working on relationship conflicts and also as a therapy method that had empirical support for its effectiveness. If you would like more information about the Choice Theory and Reality Therapy method, please see this webpage: https://wglasser.com/what-is-choice-theory/
I always had this idea that as a counsellor, I should know how to have control over my mind and body. With over 4 years of knowledge and experience as a Pilates Instructor, in 2018, I completed the 14-day STOTT Pilates Mat Instructor program. At the time, I was able to heal myself, my traumas (which I may share during the counselling session with you) and my negative thoughts whenever I sense them.
Since then, I have integrated counselling with Pilates for clients with anxiety and depression. This is one of my modalities while working with clients who would love to try something new other than talk therapy. This integration is new to the field of counselling, and I personally believe it has a magical quality to it.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
