Types of Psychotherapies

There are many types of psychotherapy, models, and treatment methods to treat mental health and emotional issues. Each type of psychotherapy is founded on a particular theory or approach, and many have been applied to large numbers of clients or patients, providing evidence-based research to attest its validity and efficacy.

It is likely that your therapist or counsellor uses an eclectic combination of two to three preferred therapies, based on their individual training, qualification, and personal preference. The type of therapy that they use also depends very much on the issues presented to them by their clients.
